Word of the Day: Quodlibet
Quodlibet is a noun that sounds just like it is spelled. It is a light-hearted mix of well known melodies or texts. It can also be a point of discussion presented to be disputed and the disputation of the point itself. This word is used much more than I would have expected. While usually used in the musical sense, theologians still use it today in discussing Christian philosophies.
I also found a company called Quodlibet that sells “ergonomic support devices for oboe, clarinet, English horn, basset horn, oboe d’amore, bass oboe and the saxophone family.”
Another reference is to Quod Libet, a Linux based software for sorting music libraries.
