Word of the Day: Encomium
I wanted to skip this today, thinking encomium would be some kind of medical term. Sounds too much like endometrium to me. Anyway, I’m all for enthusiasm. The title of that show, “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” gets me all mad. I love enthusiasm!!! Can you tell?
Anyway, encomium is a noun, representing glowing, warm and enthusiastic praise. Sort of like Tweeters on Twitter or Trekkies on William Shatner. Encomium can also be more formal, though, like a eulogy.
