Word of the Day: Contemn

Contemn is a verb meaning “to view or treat with contempt; scorn”

Now Mirriam Webster goes into the similarity of this word with the noun “contempt,” but never addresses the similarity with the word condemn. What’s the difference between contemn and condemn?

Contemn and condemn are very similar, the difference being that condemn means to judge something as wrong or reprehensible, only after weighing the facts. Contemn has no requirement to look at evidence or to make any judgements before looking upon something wit scorn.
