Sitting, staring at this screen for about half an hour, copyblogger came through for me. I didn’t want to write another boring old – here’s today’s jobs post… yada yada yada.

Just as I as ready to spew out the same old crap, today’s copyblogger email came in telling me why I should write the worst post ever. In it was a little nugget of wisdom: “Everytime we choose safety, we reinforce fear.” They got this from a Zen teacher, Cheri Huber.

This reminds me of all the years I spent chained to a desk at an office, not living my life because of fear. I was lucky. A layoff came and pushed me out of the office. With the back up of unemployment earnings, I could take a chance on myself. My success has given me confidence to reach farther and I will never go back to a desk job again.

If you want to write, but you are afraid to try, damn the torpedos and get started already. I’m not saying quit your job. But at the very least, start writing part time, evenings and weekends. Express yourself for the sheer joy of doing it. Explore the possibilities. If you write as a hobby, stop wasting your talent and get out there. It will change your life for the better.

Once you gain some confidence, you’ll find yourself at this post often, searching through the jobs. Maybe you’ll even take a chance on one of the posts in the new Queries section. Be fierce, be a killer. If you never give up, you can never fail.

Good Luck,
Killer
