BtoB Magazine reports that hiring should grow in digital and direct marketing soon.

“Forty-six percent of survey respondents indicated they plan to add staff during the first quarter of this year.”

Not only this, but a survey of marketers shows that hiring freezes have decreased by half since the last quarter. The best news of all, none of the 544 survey respondents are planning layoffs. Some are even planning to reverse pay cuts that took place over the last few years.

Many of us have already been making a decent living writing online. This news means continued success and potentially higher earnings in 2010. I couldn’t be more pleased!

Regards,

The physical location of the publication is not what matters, it's the quality and the sources of the information.

Today, the Associated Press reported on an announcement from the Pulitzer Prize board, head of journalism’s most prestigious awards, presented annually by Columbia University.

In yesterday’s announcement, the board indicated they will be more open to journalism entries from Internet-only news publications. While the organization began allowing Internet entries a year ago, those entries were required to be from sites “primarily dedicated” to news. That requirement has been dropped. They will even be accepting entries from editorial pieces.

Still, the board remains dedicated to content related to news. Magazines and broadcast media and their sites will remain out of the loop.

This goes a long way in removing the tarnish on the Internet news reporters. It has been a source of constant frustration to hear newspaper advocates pooh pooh the Internet for bad news reporting while incorrect facts and statements are published in print every day. The physical location of the publication is not what matters, it’s the quality and the sources of the information. Thanks for recognizing that Pulitzer!
