Here is a letter I wrote today to my Senate representative about Net Neutrality and Health Care Reform, two issues that have become much closer to my heart since becoming a self-employed freelance writer. I am publishing this as a sample letter in case you would like to write to your representatives and are strapped for time. I encourage you to post your letter at your blog along with your representative’s response. These are important issues that freelance writers cannot afford to ignore!
Find out who your representative is through this link.
Then Google your representative’s email and send a letter.
Thanks for supporting your fellow writers.

Dear Representative Delahunt,
I want to take a minute to ensure you are supporting President Obama’s efforts to pass health care reform that ensures affordable health care for all Americans. If you are against the president’s plans, I would be curious to understand your reasons why.
I would also like to take a minute to find out where you stand on Net Neutrality. Ted Kennedy supported this legislation and it is my great hope that you will follow in his footsteps.
When I was laid off last November, I had no choice but to go into business on my own. I am now working as a freelance copywriter and managing to pay the bills. Without net neutrality, I would have great difficulty just doing my job from day to day to reach potential clients. I am just one person trying to feed my children. I cannot afford to compete with large corporations. Keeping the internet open ensures fair play. I’m sure you can also see that my recent self-employment is one of the reasons I so adamantly support health care reform.
Thank you for taking the time to read my email and please tell me where you stand on these issues.
Sincerely,
Jessica Bosari
